Kiley (KJ) Schmidt is originally from Rochester, Minnesota and began playing volleyball at age 8. She played competitively and served as captain multiple seasons for Southern Minnesota Volleyball (SMV) and Northern Lights in the club season and played high school for Rochester Mayo High School. KJ was trained as a setter and defensive specialist. She attended the University of Minnesota, where she played for the club team and served as team captain for a season. Now she plays competitively in indoor and outdoor leagues and tournaments.
KJ graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Genetics and Cell Biology and now works as a Graphic Designer and User Experience Designer in Minneapolis. Outside of volleyball, KJ coaches with Minneapolis Girls on the Run. She has been officiating volleyball for 7 years and previously coached with Southern Minnesota Volleyball (SMV) at the 14-1 level. This is her 2nd season with VVC.
