John Yunker

Currently coaching: Vital 14-1 Gold

John is currently in his 1st year as the Head Girls Volleyball Coach at Lakeville North
High School. Before that, he spent 14 seasons as the Head Coach at Champlin Park
and four seasons as the Head Coach at St. Michael-Albertville. During his career, he
has compiled a 430-131 career record, 12 conference championships, 8 section
championships, and the 2018 State Championship.

Many of his high school athletes have gone on to play at the various levels of college
volleyball, including multiple D1 athletes who have been All-Americans and National
Champions. John has also had two Ms. Baden award winners, which is an award given
to the top Senior volleyball player in Minnesota, as voted on by the Minnesota Volleyball
Coaches Association.

John has won Section Coach of the Year multiple times and is a 2-time State Coach of
the Year award winner.

Along with his Head Coaching experience, John has been an assistant coach in high
school, coached JO for 25+ seasons, and has been an assistant coach at the D1, D2,
and D3 levels.

Previously, he has coached high school softball, baseball, and girls’ hockey as both a
head and assistant coach.

In his free time, John likes to fish, golf, and compete in BBQ competitions. He and his
Silver Lab, Kona, live in Maple Grove.
